As someone effected by HIV, Alaena talks about her own experiences of HIV and stigma to creative young black South Africas at the BAT Centre in Durban. Her focus is on humanising the effects of HIV.
HIV is a small part of her life - yet has allowed her to have a quantum leap of faith in pursuing the highest aspiration of herself. Alaena is a creative artist - expressing herself through visual art/sound/voice/music, therapeutic arts and writings on the human condition.
The most difficult aspect of being HIV has been the "Stigma", and a major part of her healing is eradicating the effects of fear associated with HIV. The present default human condition is such that it allows dis-ease to go unchecked by dealing with the symptoms and neglecting the cause.
The main cause of illness and dis-ease is wrong thinking and false compromise.
This causes the soul to freeze and starts a cycle of soul death eventually leading to illness, addiction, mental health issues, loss of livelihood, divorce and all the other trap doors that reveal themselves.
Part of Alaena's work is to humanise the condition of being human by sharing the deeper often hidden aspects of the soul - i.e The experience of being human. By doing so the human condition is normalised and so can evolve to the next stage of growth in its next highest form.
It is up to all of us to share our stories - for it is just that "A Story". We must be careful however that we don't identify with our interpretations of our individual and collective story so as to remain in tune with our true values, integrity and greatest vision of ourselves.
I trust in the truth, as this is where freedom is found. The Truth is the truth - that is all it needs to be!
