Day 4 of Treatment and the Ulltimate Walk for Humanity

Today, Tumelo is in a lot of pain. He puts his feet up and Michaela massages his joints. He has never had this pain before. He is sure it is a healing pain. We envisage the disabled virus - no arms, no legs, giving up.

In the afternoon, we drive to the BAT Centre in Durban. There is a meeting convened by Miyere, a Maasai warrior, http://massaiwarrior.ic3lovestheweb.com/?m=1 to discuss the Ultimate Walk for Humanity, a walk planned to take place in January 2011, from Cape Town to Cairo.

Present are musicians, artists, a pastor, local politician, and the wonderful director of the Centre. The walk is planned to unite - Africa - one people, one message, one walk. To show what Africa can give to the world. Courage, Hope, Spirit, Ubuntu.

The centre director describes an earlier walk, from Durban to Pietermaritszburg, and her contact with three street children who joined it. At the end on the walk, one of the street children said “I want to go back to school”. And he knocked on the school door, and the school gave him a free place (schools have to be paid for here), a second hand uniform, and so he is going to school, and at night he returns to the street.
